Prevention is KEY!
It has been found that the use of a below the knee compression sock, or "flight sock" while travelling can help reduce the risk of the development of a DVT. The compression provided by the sock helps improve overall blood flow within the lower leg.
At Donald Physiotherapy, we are certified providers of Sigvaris Compression Garments. We can appropriately measure and provide you with the sock you need not just for travel, but also medical related ailments and athletic endeavors! Sigvaris offers socks available in various fabrics, colours, patterns and lengths; from socks that go up to the knees, the thighs, tights or even leggings!
Many of our staff at the clinic love wearing their socks for reducing their achy legs after a long day of work. Plus, we look pretty cool in the vibrant colours and styles that are available, if we so choose.
Another plus: compression socks are often covered by your health insurance, so check with your plan for the requirement of a prescription and the number of pairs of socks that you may have covered.
If you have any questions regarding the Sigvaris Compression socks, or any other health related questions, please contact Donald Physiotherapy via email [email protected] or call 306.933.3372.
